Pick n Pay Kamfinsa customer service manager Tendai Muyambo, who worked for nine years after landing the post using a fake O-Level certificate, was last Friday fined US$100 for the offence. Muyambo (30) of No. 14 Mucherechese Road, Mufakose, pleaded guilty to fraud charges. She appeared before magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti, who sentenced her to three months in prison, wholly suspended on condition she pays a fine of US$100.
The prosecutor Mr Desire ChiPanire told the court that sometime in 2011 Muyambo misrepresented to her employer that she had passed Zimbabwe Schools Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) O-Level exams.
The fraudulent results on the fake certificate indicated that Muyambo sat for O-Level Zimsec exams in 2001 and passed all eight subjects, including Mathematics and English with flying colours.
However, Muyambo — who sat for examinations in November 2001 at Mabelreign Girls High with candidate number 010110/0072 — had actually passed two subjects; English Language and Principals of Accounts.
She scored Us in Mathematics, History and Art.
Muyambo ran out of luck sometime this year when Pick n Pay received a tip-off that their employee had used a fake certificate in securing the job.
Pick n Pay proceeded to ZIMSEC head offices where an affidavit compiled by head office security, Mr Lee Banda, stated the accused person’s original O-Level results.
This led to Muyambo’s arrest.
