adminEMMANUEL Mandiranga said he is excited with his move to join Mozambican champions UD Songo on a one-year contract from CAPS United.
Mandiranga joins fellow Zimbabwean Tinotenda Muringai who joined on loan from Dynamos on a one-year contract.
Mandiranga hopes this will open doors for a move to other big clubs.
“I’m very happy to join UD Songo.
“It has been my dream to play outside my country.
“So, for me to join one of the best teams in the Mozambican league makes me happy.
“Here, it’s a nice environment, but a bit small but it’s okay.
“Home is always the best, obviously, but it’s always nice to change the environment, which enables one to learn how other people live, which is always good.”
Mandiranga said he was looking forward to scoring goals as he seeks to help the team defend their championship and can barely wait to play in the CAF Champions League.
“The expectations, obviously, are to play and play well, scoring goals and helping the team retain the championship again next season,” he said.
“My personal target is to be the top goal scorer and, hopefully, I will attract bigger and better clubs elsewhere.
“It’s always good to be exposed to other teams in different leagues so I’m looking forward to the Champions League considering it’s the biggest club tournament in Africa.
“There are lots of things to learn and that’s where the scouts will be.”
Mandiranga said he will keep working hard and is also motivated by the presence of his countryman in the same team.
“Being patient, keep on working hard each and every day and, obviously, trusting the process that has taken me this far, I’m going to stick to that.
“I am happy that I will be sharing the locker room with my fellow countryman.
“It makes life easy here because I will have someone to talk to considering here they speak Portuguese so communication is a bit harder.”
