ZIMBABWE’s finest musicians will next Friday throng Nyanga Country Club for the much-hyped Nyanga South Constituency Victory celebrations, with organisers saying preparations are at an advanced stage. All genres will be heavily represented as people will be celebrating the resounding victory of Cde Supa Mandiwanzira who won a National Assembly seat on the ruling party Zanu-PF ticket in Nyanga South in 2013.
Cde Mandiwanzira is also the Minister for Information, Communication and Technology and Courier Service. A galaxy of artistes expected to perform at the celebrations include, Jah Prayzah, Tocky Vibes, Blessing Shumba, Suluman Chimbetu, Nicholas Zakaria, Mechanic Manyeruke, Nox Guni, Landmine Madongonda, Sniper Storm, Mountain Kid, Born Free Crew, Mafcat and Nyanga Super Sounds among others.
Traditional dance groups, poets and choirs from Nyanga as well as celebrated wheel spinners such as Judgement Yard and Zi Dancehall Empire are also lined up to perform. Celebrated presenters and former radio and TV personalities, the likes of Tafadzwa Musarara, Themba “The Black Bond” Mkanda, Godfrey Gweje, Thabani Mpofu-Gambiza and Madyauta will be on the mic as directors of ceremony.
Jumping castles and exciting activities for kids will also be available. In an interview, one of the organisers, Richard Mandiwanzira, said more than 10 000 people from Nyanga District are expected to attend the celebrations.
“Preparations are on course and we are happy with the progress made so far. The organising committee is working on finalising a few outstanding issues. “Everyone in Nyanga District and outside is invited and we urge people to come in their numbers to celebrate Minister Mandiwanzira’s victory,” said Richard.
The event is scheduled to start at 9am, with official speeches set for 1pm. “From 1pm, the music extravaganza will begin. More than 30 artistes including Jah Prayzah, Sniper, Tocky Vibes and Suluman Chimbetu have confirmed participation.
“This is also a platform for upcoming artistes in Manicaland Province to showcase their talents while marketing their music,” added Richard. Musicians interviewed by The Manica Post promised to put up top drawer performances.
Man-of-the-moment and multi-award winning musician, Jah Prayzah, speaking through his manager, Keen Mushapaidze, promised to thrill thousands of people expected to attend. “As usual we will provide our best. We promise to excite and thrill our fans. “This will be an opportunity for all who missed the Jerusarema tour to see us live on stage.
“The Third Generation Band is ready for the show,” he said.
Local gospel supremo, Blessing Shumba, said he would play a blend of old and new hits. “Our outfit is ready to mesmerise all those who will attend the event. “We will use the opportunity to drop some of the new tracks from our forthcoming album,” he said.
Sungura-jit musician, Landmine Madongonda, who hails from Nyanga, hailed the organisers of the event for coming up with such a platform, saying it would go a long way in promoting their music.
“We are happy that thousands of people will see us performing. We promise to put up a polished performance. “We will also market our new album which hit the streets last month,” said Madongonda.
