Mangwiro demands victory

HARARE City coach, Taurai Mangwiro, says it’s high time they start collecting maximum points.

City have been on a losing streak and they hope to beat Yadah Stars in their Friday Night encounter at the National Sports Stadium.

“We need to arrest the series of losses we have suffered in the past games,” said Mangwiro.

“It has not been rosy for us, we are coming up against a team that have notched up identical one nil wins over Dynamos and ZPC.

“For us to salvage something, we need to up our game.”

He added:

“While we have had that poor run, we are looking forward to doing well against Yadah, a lot has happened to our club.

“Tatenda Tumba left the club to link up with his family in the United Kingdom.

“Defender Collin Mujuru has had his contract terminated while Emmanuel Mandiranga has indicated that he would want to leave the club.

“Injuries to key players – Kelvin Shangiwa, Clive Rupiya, Timothy January, Wilfred Muvurimi and Innocent Zambezi – have not helped and they are all unavailable, through injury.

“It makes our task more insurmountable but, at the same time, I believe the personnel we have will be able to save us.”

He said they could strengthen their squad.

“At the moment, we are assessing a few guys hoping they will be able to fill in the slots of those whom I have mentioned.

“In football sometimes, one just needs luck and it is what we haven’t had in the last few matches so, hopefully, we will be able to turn things around and get on a fine run.”
