Mangwiro meets CAPS United

POOR travellers Triangle will be seeking to improve their awful away record by getting a positive result against champions CAPS United at the National Sports Stadium tomorrow. The Lowveld side have only managed a single victory away from Gibo, when they beat Bulawayo City in the first half of the season.

“I would want my team to do well, especially away from home where we have only one victory against Bulawayo City,” coach Taurai Mangwiro said.
“We have struggled away and have picked draws here and there. It is always very emotional when you are playing against your former team but as coaches we have become used to that. I don’t have any hard feelings.

“CAPS United have had an indifferent season in the local league but did well in the Champions League reaching the group stages. They have dusted themselves, they are now in a respectable position and are very dangerous. We expect them to give a big fight.” Crucially for Mangwiro and his troops there is also the right against relegation. “At the moment we cannot say we are safe. You can see that clubs behind us are breathing on our necks and we never know what will happen.

”We don’t want to have sleepless nights later on, so the earlier we start collecting points the better for us,” said Mangwiro. Triangle will be missing some of their key players. Defender Darryn Phiri is serving his second suspension after he saw red against Hwange. The duo of Courage Denias and Dzingai Chirambamuriwo will also sit out through suspension. Forwards Simba Makoni and Rodwell Mhlanga are nursing some injuries.

Black Rhinos midfielder Donald Mudadi, FC Platinum Nqobizitha Masuku, Bulawayo City Trevor Ndlovu and How Mine Marvelous Mukumba complete the list of players who are suspended by the Premier Soccer League. The champions goes into this match buoyed by individual awards to head coach Lloyd Chitembwe and chief striker Dominic Chungwa. With all their focus now on the league, Makepekepe have been slowly climbing up the ladder as they have been playing catch-up to clear the backlog they created during the Champions League group stage matches.
