CAPS United have been rocked by the loss of key defender Brighton Manhire, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious head injury.
The Makepekepe star was injured a fortnight ago during a bruising Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash against FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium.
“Following the head injury to our midfielder Brighton Manhire in the Matchday 26 clash at Mandava, the player is set to miss the remainder of the season for his surgery and recovery,” CAPS United confirmed in a statement.
The news comes at a bad time for Makepekepe, who are battling to steady their campaign in the final stretch of the season.
Meanwhile, Simba Bhora have flexed their transfer muscle by signing 22-year-old defender Munashe Chakuchichi from Spanish outfit UD San Fernando.
Chakuchichi, the elder brother of Scotland-based rising talent Tadiwa Chakuchichi, is expected to add grit and stability to Simba Bhora’s backline as the title race heats up.
