The development of Dinson Iron and Steel plant in Manhize is a vital cog in the achievement of the country’s quest of becoming an upper middle-income economy by 2030, Mines and Mining Development Minister Winston Chitando has said.

Minister Chitando said this after touring the plant that begun its first phase of production recently.

“What we are seeing here is the fulfilment of His Excellency President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 of the country becoming an upper middle-income economy,” he said.

Over 1800 people have so far been employed in the first phase of production.

Under the phase, 600 000 tonnes of pig iron will be produced while 50MW of electricity is being generated at the thermal power station.
