Manjolo High School 3-0 Binga Social Club
MANJOLO High School thrashed Binga Social Club in amatch played at Sinampongo on Saturday which marked the start of the 13-team Elino football tournament.
The match was the first in a series of elimination matches that have been lined up.
A fourth minute goal from Buumi Mwinde spurred on Manjolo in the opening half of the game. The boozers failed to level matters despite relentless pressure.
The match was evenly balanced with the teams having a share of attempts at goal.
Binga Social Club started the fast tempo second half in search of goals. Their attempts were hampered by Manjolo striker Success Munkuli who made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute. Hardly had the boozers settled that Mwinde completed his brace waltzing past the defence to make it 3-0.
Binga were not deterred by the goal, as they went in search of a face saver with captain Tendai Sibindi’s powerful shot blocked by Manjolo goalkeeper Siyaso Mwinde in the 73rd minute.
Goalkeeper Recent Ncube thwarted Manjolo boys attempts on numerous occasions. The last 15 minutes of the game were hit by the first summer rains. Binga Social Club manager Robert Chibona said they were affected by injuries to key striker Munya Hakulandaba but still remained happy with the fight exhibited by his boys.
“I think we both had chances. We look forward to winning the next match when Manjolo plays host,” said Chibona.
Manjolo High School coach Rameck Gwenhure felt his team did well.
“I think my boys played very well and kept the flag flying high which is highly commendable. We came second last month in the provincial games at Gloag High School and in our local league Division Three we’re leading with 32 points so we’re very optimistic about clinching the Elino tournament,” said Gwenhure.
Binga High School, Binga Prison, Binga Social Club, Croc Farm, Croc Hunters, Denmark FC, Kelamenda FC, Maldeldel FC, Manjolo High School, Markmits FC, Nevmud FC, Sikalenge FC and Zambezi Tigers are the teams taking part in the Elino tournament.
