Mantain peace during polls, artisanal miners urged

THE Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF) has urged artisanal and small-scale miners to maintain peace and security on their mining premises during harmonised elections scheduled for tomorrow.

Henrietta Rushwaya, ZMF president, called on miners to report incidents of political violence to the nearest police station.

She also pledged the mining sector’s support for the government and its aim to achieve a US$12 billion mining economy.

“We are urging all artisanal and small-scale miners to be peaceful and ensure that their mining premises are secure against any possible attacks from political malcontents to ensure that mining business continues to thrive after the elections.

“We call upon our miners to ensure peace before, during and after August 23,” she said.
