MANTAS Tennis Academy sensation, Keren Muswere, became the 53rd player to secure a full scholarship in the United State of America where she will be pursuing her academic studies as well as partake in college tennis. The talented 17-year-old, who was in Lower Six at Mutare Girls’ High, was scheduled to leave the country on Thursday (yesterday).
Mantas Tennis Academy director for coaching, Freeman Nyamunokora, confirmed the development.
“Keren Muswere is going to the United State of America where she will continue with her career in tennis as well as pursuing her studies. We have no doubt that she will be a good ambassador of the academy just like most of her predecessors,” he said.
In a separate interview, Muswere, who will undertake a four-year Radiology programme, heartily thanked her parents, the Martins family as well as her coaches at Mantas Tennis Academy.
“I am excited about it. It gives a wonderful feeling. It is an opportunity that I never thought would come this year. What makes the whole thing even more exciting is that I will be playing Division One tennis which means more competitive matches.
“I am really grateful to my parents for their support. Usually they say education is the key to success, but sport can also be a key to success and when you excel in both, the sky can be the limit.
“I also want to thank the Martins family for the opportunity that they availed to me and all other tennis players by establishing the academy.
“Last, but not least, I want to thank my coaches at Mantas. They did a good job in moulding me to become what I am today,” she said.
