Many have died waiting for HE to die

So President Mugabe has resurrected from the dead once again! Surely, our detractors must have so much egg on their faces that none is left for another breakfast. For how long should President Mugabe be killed on Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp? For how long should opposition forces emerge, fight losing battles, and become defunct as they wait for President Mugabe to die?

How long should hoodlums protest and how long should irrelevant nobodies like Eddie Cross speculate in lengthy, winding postulations about the death of someone who is as fit as a fiddle?

For the better part of the other week, we were inundated with silly obituaries about the death of Cde Mugabe. Others said he had a stroke and was incapacitated.

Conspiracy theories were flying high and low and imaginations were running wild, some claiming that Statutory Instrument 101a of 2016 was formulated in a bid to avert opposition celebrations following Cde Mugabe’s death.

You could almost make out the Shakespearean Marc Antony in our doomsday prophets: “Friends, Zimbabweans, countrymen, lend me your ears; I come to bury His Excellency, not to praise him.”

It was, as it has always been, sickening and nauseating to say the least.

My mailbox was full of spam with some misfits gleefully mocking the possible death of our leader.

Be that as it may, time always outs the liars. Many a time, time is brutal and unforgiving.

Even some who were celebrating the imaginary death of Cde Mugabe died the day before he returned from his private visit to the Middle East. Some died last month, and many have died over the unforgiving years.

Cde Mugabe, meanwhile, continues to be blessed with seeing yet another sun rise every single day for 92 years — and counting.

Napoleon Bonaparte once said, “Death is nothing, but to live defeated and inglorious is to die daily.”

Imagine the number opposition agents who are living defeated and inglorious, imagine their daily deaths on seeing Cde Mugabe arrive from Dubai when they had all started celebrating a very dishonourable imaginary victory?

Like the cowards that they are known to be, they have died many times before their own deaths while Cde Mugabe, the valiant one, will never taste death except once.

Surely where has our dignity gone? How come we have sunk to such low ebbs that we speak and praise death with such indignity?

It was unheard of in the days of old to celebrate even the death of one’s enemy or the death of a witch.

Nowadays it is commonplace to hear those who think they are immortal to wish death upon another human being.

But Karma is, to put it mildly, a female dog.

Those who often wish death upon others are the ones whom death first visits.

Honestly why would anyone pray for someone to die as if they themselves are immortal?

“No one wants to die,” the late Steve Jobs once said, “Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It is life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new.”

Now how many have died before Cde Mugabe? How many opposition henchmen have died wishing Cde Mugabe dead?

Have they not been cleared out because they are old in order to make way for the new? So if President Mugabe is still alive, then it means he is not yet old and it also means there is nothing new needed to replace him.

There have been sickening doomsday cults over the years that have time and again falsely predicted the demise of President Mugabe.

Both gullible congregants and a cynical opposition seem not to tire in wishing death upon Cde Mugabe no matter how long and how often he has proved them wrong.

Our strong President is fit as a fiddle.

Just by being alive President Mugabe has proved that we are surrounded by a bunch of liars and deceivers in and around Zimbabwe.

These are the same people who lie that things are going to be better in Zimbabwe once President Mugabe is dead.

These are the same liars who deceive many fools into sitting on their laurels waiting for President Mugabe to die.

These are the same liars who mislead the electorate that Zimbabwe’s economic doldrums are because Cde Mugabe is not yet dead.

Do not be fooled.

Zimbabwe is a better place with Cde Mugabe around and alive. Do not be fooled that things are going to get better once President Mugabe is dead.

Do not wait for your own death waiting for the death of another.

Dubulaizitha!
