Manyame Air Force Base Primary School yesterday held its first ever student councillors investiture and sporting excellency for their 2023 learners.
Forty-five prefects, made up of 19 boys and 26 girls, received certificates.
Speaking during the ceremony, Manyame Air Base Commander Air Commodore Elisha Masakadza said it was another milestone for education in his cantonment.
Air Commodore Masakadza thanked the graduating student leaders and their most decorated athletes for their contribution to the school.
“We are glad indeed, you have made our day a memorable one. Your certification today is the first of the series of accomplishments in your life. You have been trained and excelled in sports, hence the reason for your graduation day and medal presentation.
“We expect you to be committed, for without commitment, there is no success. More so, devotion to duty is the highest form of worship to God,” he said.
Air Commodore Masakadza urged the learners to inspire others during their lifetime, and to uphold the value of the school and “keep Manyame Air Force Base Primary School flag flying high”.
School head Mr Patrick Chitambo said the milestone was an inspiration for the school.
“This is our first certification ceremony in the history of our school to be conducted with a full coverage by the State media, it is truly an excellent opportunity,” he said.
Manyame Air Force Base Primary School head boy Tafadzwa Gwata said the leadership training course was an eye-opener.
“I am ready to influence collaboration and cooperation with everyone in order to acquire the best learning environment.
“I will work arduously with devotion and determination to fulfil my duties as the head boy,” said Gwata.
