Varun Beverages invests US$110m to grow operations

Varun Beverages says it has invested US$110 million towards establishing its Zimbabwean carbonated soft drinks business, which is now one of the biggest operations in the sector.

The business was inaugurated by President Mnangagwa in 2018 after an investment of US$30 million. Varun Beverages Zimbabwe has grown its production capacity to 80 million bottles of carbonated soft drinks, energy drinks, and bottled water per month.

“We are grateful to the people of Zimbabwe for their love and support. This investment of approximately US$110 million, would not have been possible without the support of the people of Zimbabwe,” the company said in a statement.

Varun Beverages is the second-largest bottler of PepsiCo Holdings in the world.

Pepsi is an American brand and has a presence in more than 200 countries. Varun Beverages received the Best Bottler of the World award out of hundreds of PepsiCo Holdings bottlers in more than 200 countries.

Varun Beverages range of products in Zimbabwe are Sting energy drink, Pepsi, Mirinda Orange, Mirinda Fruity, Mirinda Pineapple, Mirinda Green Apple, 7Up, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Max, Mountain Dew, and the bottled water brand; Aquaclear.

The giant beverages company said it was committed to making more investments in Zimbabwe and working in the spirit of Zimbabwe – open for investment.

 Encouraged by the value of healthy living, and with the help of the Indian Ambassador and the Indian Embassy to  Zimbabwe, Varun Beverages yesterday celebrated International Yoga Day by conducting yoga sessions at its plant.

Indian Ambassador Vijay Khanduja, addressed the employees of Varun Beverages and highlighted the importance of yoga for healthy living.
