Manyeruke’s plea for Mercedes-Benz

during the Victor Awards ceremony held at the Celebration Centre on Wednesday where he bagged the Lifetime Achievement Award, Baba Manyeruke said:

“When I heard, I had been nominated for this award I thought I was going to receive a Mercedes-Benz as my prize. I have come of age now and a Benz would be the best present for me.”

The master of ceremony immediately interjected and told Baba Manyeruke that his request would be considered since the Minister of Finance Mr Tendai Biti was there and had probably noted his request.
Ironically, the two were sitting next to each other and during the ceremony they continued to exchange smiles.

When Baba Manyeruke went back to the stage to present awards to other winners, he profusely thanked the master of ceremony for alerting the Minister Biti on his passionate plea for a Mercedes Benz.
He also paid tribute to his loyal fans that have stood by him from the time he strummed his first guitar in the 1970s.

The veteran musician got the crowd into a merry making mood when he performed two of his popular songs “Madhimoni” and “Moses Murenje”.

Ministers, businessmen, musicians, pastors and many other influential members of society graced the awards ceremony.
