GOSPEL singer Elizabeth Manyowa is working on several projects that will feature various South African artistes.
Manyowa recently relocated to Mzansi, a move she said was aimed at further boosting her music career that dates back to 1998.
Over the years, she was employed by a local Embassy and music was a “part-time” thing for her. However, she has since retired to focus more on singing.
The musician recently released a single titled “Uthembisile” that features a budding South African gospel singer Katlego Makanta.
The easy-flowing and pulsating track has been well-received by her fans.
“I released a single called ‘Uthembisile’ meaning you promised. It is an interesting track that I am sure most people will like,” said Manyowa.
“‘Uthembisile’ is kind of challenging God in a prayerful manner that He promised us and we trust on His promises because they are true.”
The gospel singer revealed that she has several projects lined up.
“I am now doing music full time in here (South Africa). My diary is always packed. I am working on new projects. Some of the songs I will be doing alone but in some instances, I will feature established and upcoming singers,” she said.
“I have since taken a different approach to my singing career. I want to further expand my music brand in the shortest possible time and that can only be achieved if I work extra hard. It is not that difficult though since it (music) is now my sole focus.”
Manyowa added that she will be dropping another single titled “Ungakhali” soon.
The title of the track can loosely be translated to mean ‘do not cry’.
“We are done with most of the work and it is almost ready for the market. On this project, I also featured Katlego Makanta. I want to help broaden the appreciation of our music in Mzansi,” she added.
Manyowa broke her nine-year music sabbatical with her fourth album “Mazuva Okuipa” which was launched live on Star FM in 2018.
She recorded the album at Pakare Paye Studios and got tremendous support from the late Dr Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi.
Notable tracks that featured on the album include “Namazuva Okuipa”, “Nzvimbo Yomweya”, “When Times are Hard” and “Vakatsungirira”.
She then immediately followed the project with “Ndozviudza Ani” (2019) which featured veteran gospel singer Ivy Kombo-Kasi and Rumbie Zvirikuzhe on the song “Ndauya”.
Her debut album “Tsvakai Jehova” was released in 1998. Manyowa’s other albums include “Tsvakai Rugare” (2007) and “Ndauya” (2009).
The gospel singer received a certificate of appreciation from Kunashe Studios in January this year, for recognition of her hard work and fascinating compositions.
