TWO of Africa’s most revered gospel powerhouses, South Africa-based Ntokozo Mbambo and Zimbabwean Janet Manyowa turned Harare Gardens into a sacred battlefield of praise and worship on Saturday night, leading thousands of believers into deep, soul-stirring encounters during the Call to Worship Global 17th Anniversary Night of Worship.

From the first note to the last amen, the event was nothing short of a spiritual spectacle. What began as an open-air gospel gathering quickly transformed into a massive altar of surrender, with hands raised, knees bent and voices crying out in reverence. Backed by full bands and the electrifying Call to Worship Global Choir, the two award-winning divas gave fans every reason to show up and stay rooted in worship for hours. Their performances were not only vocally flawless, but spiritually charged, reminding attendees why both women stand at the pinnacle of African gospel music.

Mbambo took the stage with power and grace. She delivered a worship experience that moved hearts, performing anointed favourites like “Jehovah Is Your Name,” “Worthy is Your Name,” “Makabongwe,” and “In the Shadow.” The atmosphere shifted with every line she sang, drawing tears, prayers and awe from the crowd.

“It’s always humbling to see God touch hearts through worship,” Ntokozo shared after her set.

“Zimbabwe carries a powerful sound of worship, and being part of this gathering was truly special.”

Janet Manyowa delivered a performance that was equal parts elegance and intensity. Her renditions of “Zadzisa,” “Nyasha neNgoni,” and “Ndimi” had the crowd in full voice, matching her note for note in what felt like a united national prayer.

“Call to Worship has always been about uniting believers in one voice,” Janet said. “Seeing thousands of the people from different churches and backgrounds lifting their voices to God reminded me that worship truly transcends boundaries.”

Though entry was free, many said the event was worth paying for — a testament to the production quality, artiste delivery, and spiritual impact. Some even called it the best worship experience of their lives.

“I travelled from Gweru just for this night,” said Ruth Nyathi, visibly emotional.

“Ntokozo and Janet gave us everything. It wasn’t just singing, it was a real encounter. I am leaving refreshed.”

The Call to Worship Global Choir, now in its 17th year, proved why it remains one of the most impactful inter-denominational worship ministries on the continent.
