CHARLES Manyuchi, the Zimbabwean World Boxing Council welterweight silver champion, has paid tribute to the late world heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali.
The legendary boxer died on Saturday.
“It’s a very sad story that Ali is no more. Ali used to say that he floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee. I sting like bee. He was my inspiration before I even started boxing.
“He inspired me to take up boxing. I am deeply hurt, it is God’s way that man shall not live forever and may his soul rest in eternal peace,” said Manyuchi.
Ali died in hospital in Arizona after being battling respiratory problems.
He was 74.
Ali was the first man to win heavyweight titles on three occasions.
Manyuchi also saluted the Warriors following their qualification for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The boxer was part of the big crowd that cheered the Warriors to triumph when they beat Malawi 3-0 at the National Sports Stadium.
“I was at the National Sports Stadium yesterday (Sunday) cheering the Warriors. The boys did well and I am proud to be Zimbabwean,” said Manyuchi.
