THE die has been cast and a mouthwatering boxing clash is now on the cards.

Former World Boxing Council champion Charles Manyuchi has revealed that he is ready to fight Sam Madanhire in a winner-takes-all heavyweight clash.

What started off as mere talk, when Madanhire openly taunted Manyuchi, is now turning into a reality, as the latter has laid down the conditions for this fight.

Madanhire is a local heavyweight boxer with three wins in seven bouts and has never won an international belt.

However, he is confident he can beat Manyuchi, who has now moved into the heavyweight category.

Local promoter, Clyde Musonda is now putting together the fight that is set for August 23 at the Country Club in Newlands, Harare. The Manyuchi versus Madanhire fight could be the headline act of a packed boxing night that will see Zimbabwe hosting boxers from across Africa.

According to Musonda, pugilists from Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius, Cameroon, South Africa and Togo are being billed to take part.

When Zimpapers Sports Hub contacted Manyuchi yesterday and the seasoned boxer admitted he wanted the fight but “on condition that the promoters meet my demands.”

The former African Boxing Union champion could not be pressed into revealing those demands, but those in his camp indicate that Manyuchi wants nothing less than $20 000 for him to take on Madanhire.

“As for the purse money, that’s confidential, but I am always ready to fight,” said Manyuchi.

“What I am simply saying is I am available to teach Madanhire a boxing lesson and at the same time entertain my fans.

“A right offer has to be tabled and I am sure we will agree on something because I know fans are eager for this fight and I have to give them what they want,” added Manyuchi.

The 33-year-old boxer has decided to continue trading the leather after initially announcing his retirement some two years ago.

“As long as good fights come my way I will always be ready to step into the ring.

“Besides, Clyde (Musonda), the promoter, is a long-time brother and I have to do this for him.

“But like I said, the conditions have to be right.”
