WORLD Boxing Council silver welterweight champion Charles Manyuchi will tomorrow pay homage to his first promoter, Eddison Zvobgo. Manyuchi, who is now under Zambia’s Chris Malunga of Oriental Quarries Promotions, says he has not forgotten the role Zvobgo played in shaping his carrier. The 26-year old pugilist spent four years under the wings of Zvobgo and it is during that period when he turned professional.

“It is always important to remember where one came from. Edson Zvobgo is one of the main reasons why Charles Manyuchi is what he is today.

“The man took me from the dust and laid the foundations on which my carrier is now built on. “I could not have been the same had Zvobgo not taken me under his wings.

“So I am taking my time to pay homage to the gentleman and I will obviously have some presents for him.

“I want to urge him and many other businessmen out there to continue identifying and nurturing talent amongst youths,” he said. Manyuchi’s principal sponsors, Mr T35, will accompany the boxer during the visit. The fighter will also launch boxing at Victoria High School during the visit. “Before going to Zvobgo’s area, we will first launch boxing at Victoria High School.
