FORMER Warriors defender Gilbert Mapemba could be jobless at his South African Absa Premier Soccer League team Moroka Swallows after June.
His contract with the Dube Birds is yet to be renewed.
Mapemba, who joined the Johannesburg-based side a few seasons ago, is still in the dark about his next destination should Swallows off-load him.
Swallows ended the season outside the Top Eight so as things stand he might find himself job hunting.
The Gauteng side is expected to overhaul their team for next season.
Swallows coach Zeca Marques told Chronicle Sport: “Mapemba has been a pillar of strength in our team since joining us a few seasons ago, believe me there are few defenders of his calibre in the PSL.
“I’m happy to work with such a player. He is disciplined, a good ball distributor and reader of the game.”
Marques added that he would love to continue working with the Zimbabwean player for next season even though Mapemba has not yet signed with the team.
“Mapemba has been a great player throughout the season and I was impressed with him,” said the Swallows coach.
The former Caps United defender didn’t play much in the first half of the season for his team as he was out injured, but in the second stanza he was back in the thick of things commanding and marshaling his defence well.
