FC PLATINUM finally booked their place in the Mbada Diamonds Cup tournament and could even finish in third place in yet another demonstration of Norman Mapeza’s fine coaching qualities.
Pure Platinum Play beat Hwange 1-0 in their backyard to guarantee their place in the Top Four and get their ticket into the Mbada Diamonds Cup.
They join ZPC Kariba, Dynamos and CAPS United in the Mbada Diamonds Cup.
Mapeza’s men have already qualified for the Chibuku Super Cup final set for this weekend.
FC Platinum are now sitting on 48 points and fifth-placed Chicken Inn can only finish on 47 points if they win their last encounter.
Joey Antipas and his men are currently on 44 points with a single game to go before the season ends.
FC Platinum struggled at the beginning of the season, under the guidance of Lloyd Mutasa, and this forced the club’s leaders to recruit Mapeza.
The former Warriors’ coach has transformed the team into a competitive who had joined the team in June 2013.
Mapeza said his initial mission was to take FC Platinum into the Top Eight but their season has got better and better with each passing week.
He has turned his side into one whose opponents have found it difficult to score against, conceding just one goal in their last five league games.
