Maphala expecting baby number 2

Well, this is different for Lorraine Maphala, who has dedicated herself to motherhood.

The former beauty queen is expecting baby number two with hubby Sonny Phiri.

The couple, which is blessed with a beautiful daughter, Dineo, is ecstatic as they are expecting a baby boy this time around.

In an interview, Maphala could not contain her anxiety and joy that very soon she would be a mother of two.

“Words cannot explain the way I am feeling now, but I am actually happy.

My first pregnancy was super, exciting, I didn’t know what to expect, but now it’s different,” said Maphala.

The former Miss Zimbabwe 2005 title holder revealed that of late her husband had not hidden the excitement of fathering a baby boy.

“After undergoing an ultrasound scan I was overjoyed that this time around we would be having a baby boy.

When I told my husband he was just fine with it, but of late he is so excited about it and is always talking about it,” said the Nketa-born beauty.

Maphala added that motherhood was one of the developments in the life of a model that people do not expect.

“You know from being a model it’s not what people expect from you, but modelling is just like any other career one embarks on before marriage.

I am not different from any woman and any woman who is in my shoes would echo the same sentiments,” said Maphala.

The couple which customarily married last year has managed to keep their affair close to their chests and in the process silencing critics who were sceptical about the celebrity’s marriage.

Maphala was crowned Miss Summer Strides in 2004 and went on to win the Miss Zimbabwe title in 2005.

She represented the country at the Miss World and Miss Malaika pageants where she did well.

The full time mother said she was planning on holding a baby shower.

“I am planning to host a baby shower in the next few weeks, but I will not shed much detail on that,” she said.

Maphala joins former Miss Bulawayo Oslie Muringai Matsikenyeri who is a proud mother of two.

Muringai is married to cricketer Stuart Matsikenyeri.
