Maphepha wants to make history with Archers

FORMER Highlanders FC championship winning chairman and manager Ernest ‘Maphepha’ Sibanda has set his target at writing history in the Bulawayo Metropolitan Darts League as he wants his Archers club to win the title without losing a game. Sibanda is Archers’ non-playing captain and on Wednesday night saw his charges taking their unbeaten run to 30 after beating How Mine 32-7 at home.
Archers are at the top of the log with 30 points from 30 outings and enjoy a three- point lead over second placed Railstars who lost 17-22 to Fairbridge.

Njanji’s defeat to Fairbridge means that the log leaders now need two points from their remaining four matches to win their first ever Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Darts League title.

Railstars can only end the season with 31 points should they win all their remaining four games.
“It’s now clearer that we are winning the championship but I want my players to push harder and make sure that we win the title in style with a 100 percent winning record. It is possible for us to do that and giving ourselves targets that appear almost impossible is what has been driving us.

“The teams that will face us in the next coming four matches should be prepared for very tough encounters,” said Sibanda.
Archers were without their skipper Mkhululi Dube when they beat How Mine and had to rely on Brian Ndlovu, Nkululeko Ncube, Tafadzwa Mtomba and Albert Tawanda to lead their attack against the gold miners.

Meanwhile, the Parkview Khanka-ZRP Bulawayo match was not played as the uniformed forces team failed to assemble a team.
The Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Darts League spokesperson Lethukuthula Nkomo said they were waiting for the report to decide on what action to take.

“Only one match was not played and that is the Parkview Khanka-ZRP Bulawayo encounter. From what I hear, ZRP Bulawayo had three players and we are waiting to hear from the two teams,” Nkomo said.
