PREMIERSHIP’S bad boy Mthulisi Maphosa was yesterday convicted by a Bulawayo magistrate on charges of assaulting his girlfriend and her friends and has been ordered to perform community service. The former Monomotapa midfielder bashed his girlfriend Nobuhle Nkomo, her friend Amanda Mbuisa and her boyfriend Bongani Rabvu, in Mpopoma early this month.
Appearing before Western Commonage magistrate Tancy Dube, the former Zimbabwe Saints, Monomotapa and FC Platinum player was sentenced to 75 hours of community service.
Maphosa said that he assaulted Mbuisa because she was influencing his girlfriend into prostitution.
Mbuisa said Maphosa always assaulted his girlfriend and had turned her into a “punching bag” but she would not report the matter.
The player is not a first offender as he was fined for stabbing a soldier following a fight in October 2011.
He also ran riot and beat up patrons at Esibayeni Bar in Matshobana suburb after a brawl with bouncers, who had prevented him from entering wearing a hat.
