Maphosa drops 2nd album

What is striking about the album is that it has a South African flair, a developmentg Maphosa said was meant to satiate local fans that rely heavily on South African music.

“I am blessed with a deep voice and since my music was recorded in South Africa and the songs are in Shona, Ndebele and Sotho I thought of adopting the South African beat. Many music lovers have a thing with South African music but they don’t understand the language. I wanted to fill in the void,” he said.

Established gospel musician Charamba implored Government to promote the arts industry.
“Brazil is renowned for its samba dance, United States of America is known for its hip-hop and Democratic Republic of Congo is well known for its rhumba beat, why not do the same in Zimbabwe.

Music plays an important role in preserving our culture,” said Charamba.
He also urged musicians to invest in their productions and quality music.
“Some of the musicians rush their productions and come out with half-baked products. That is shortchanging the consumers of our music,” added Charamba.

Veteran broadcaster Cain Chikosha said good music boosts radio audience.
“If the artistes produce good music, radio stations will play quality music and listeners will love to be on that station, but in recent years we have seen a dip in good music productions,” said Chikosha.
Maphosa said he was planning to stage more shows this year.
