Paul Mundandi in Zvishavane
HIGHLANDERS midfielder Mthulisi Maphosa has promised their fans that they will go back home smiling when their team progresses to the final of the Mbada Diamonds Cup at Mandava today. Bosso take on Harare City in a semi-final showdown. “We are going to make our fans happy and all I am asking is for them is to come in numbers and rally behind their beloved team and all I know is God is going to see us through,” said Maphosa.
“Mandava reminds me of my late coach Benjamin (Moyo) who believed in my talent.
“He made me terminate my contract with TP Mazembe with an offer I could not resist considering that this (Zvishavane) was just a few kilometres away from my home.
“We are going to give it our best shot tomorrow. Bosso pays me to win matches whether League or Cup so when I get onto the field, I go in with a winning mind.
“I usually find it hard to accept any other result except a victory and so far I have been training very hard at home and doing extra training to get something good for my team, the fans, the technical team and the executive.”
Highlanders were boosted by the arrival of coach Kaindu but Harare City coach Bigboy Mawiwi has downplayed the significance of his presence on the bench.
“His coming does not change anything. They have been with the same players and the same technical team in all the games they have played this season so there is nothing new,” said Mawiwi.
Harare City were expected to arrive here last night and will this morning carry out a clean-up exercise in the town.
“As Harare City we are responsible for the cities.
Harare is the Sunshine City and we want to bring the sun to Zvishavane by conducting a clean-up campaign,” said Huggings Muyambo, the Harare City vice-chairman.
“We will then later on show Bosso the sun by handing them their first defeat at the hands of Harare City since the Mbada Cup is going to be our first silverware.
“I am appealing to Shabanie Mine and Dynamos fans to come and rally behind us. As Harare City we are happy with the spreading of games by Mbada Diamonds.”
