Maradona blasts Argentina

BUENOS AIRES . — Diego Maradona has slammed Argentina’s under-performing football squad, claiming the country’s class of 2019 are not fit to wear the shirt after they were beaten 3-1 by Venezuela in a friendly on Friday night.

Goals from Salomon Rondon, Jhon Murillo and Josef Martinez saw La Albiceleste suffer defeat at the Wanda Metropolitano.

And Maradona was scathing in his response when asked if he had watched the game.

Having reached the World Cup final in 2014, the Albiceleste have endured a rather humbling fall from grace.

They could only muster a last-16 showing on a global stage last summer, with eventual winners France proving too strong for an unorganised side on Russian soil. — AFP.
