Maranatha Christian School (Hekima Inc) won the grand price of the Junior Achievement Zimbabwe National Company of the year competition.
Sixteen High Schools entrepreneurs battled it out for the grand prize on the 3rd and 4th of November.
Prompt Company (Zengeza high 1) voted first runner-up, with Tavy Technologies from Masvingo Christian College emerging third.
Hekima Inc is a software development company driven to improve education accessibility and availability in Zimbabwe, Africa and the world through innovative solution.
Maranatha Christian School students Tinovimba Sagonda, Shingirai Muchingu, Blessing Bvunzawabaya and Kudzai Katanda walked away with the cash prize of $750 and a trip to Nigeria.
Speaking to H-Metro Blessing Bvanzawabaya from said he was still in shock.
“The journey was tough we got to a point that we wanted to quit the competition.
“ It was actually hard coming up with an idea, we had numerous ideas.
“But we identified that in 2019 during the COVID-19 pandemic many individuals were distracted, learners could not focus so we had to come up with something.
“We wanted to improve pupils grades, ZIMSEC and Cambridge recorded low pass rates, so we wanted to get people to study that is why we developed a software to help students study,” he said.
The JAZ is an organisation that empower youths in identifying their skills.
