Marange Pro-am golf tourney dates set

Hillside will host the prestigious tournament from May 31- June 2 and several top golfers are expected to take part in the event.

Michael Mahachi, The Zambezi Tour tournament director is hopeful that the tournament will live to its billing.
“We now have the dates for the Marange Resources Pro-AM whose Prize Fund is $30 000
“The tournament will be held at Hillside Golf Club (Mutare) from Thursday 31st May-Saturday 2nd June 2012.
“The tournament secretary will be sending golfers some tournament information sheets with details that will include discounted accommodation arrangements.

“The entries must be made through Cedric Yonker and they will close on Thursday 18th May 2012,” Mahachi said.
Hillside was not hosting major tournaments of late save for the Masters for amateurs and women’s Manicaland Strokeplay.
The course managers at the country’s third biggest city will now have something to prepare for after the coming on board of Marange Resources.

Marange Resources’ coming into the sport is a timely boost for the local professionals for their 2012 season.
The golfers have so far taken part in two local tournaments the Mashwede Invitational and Zimbabwe Open.
Coming barely three weeks after the prestigious Zimbabwe Open the Marange Resources pro-am should not be short of competition from top golfers.

Zimbabwe now has more than 60 professional golfers who will battle it out for the top prize.
Meanwhile, the Zambezi Tour co-ordinating committee is in negotiations with the Sunshine Tour’s, Big Easy Tour to have some slots on the tournament. Speaking on the

developments Mahachi said members who are willing to participate in selected Sunshine Tour’s, Big Easy Tour (BET) events must register at the Zambezi Tour offices. Registration will be done until next week. Zambezi Tour will be granted a few slots in an arrangement being finalised with the Sunshine Tour,” Mahachi said.
