Marathon to mark Iyati’s 42nd birthday

STAR FM presenter Itayi Takaendesa, who is affectionately known as Iyati, will host a 42,2km marathon to celebrate her 42nd birthday on Saturday.

The veteran and revered presenter became a year older on September 10.

Forty-two participants, including Iyati, are expected to participate in the marathon.

The event, which will be hosted by Leengate Land Developers, has received significant support from corporates, with Multichoice Zimbabwe donating sanitary wear worth $38 000.

“The proposed date for the marathon is Saturday 25, 2021. Each runner will raise a year’s supply of sanitary wear for an underprivileged woman of their choice, making it 42 beneficiaries in total,” said Iyati.

The affable presenter has over the years made it a tradition to commemorate her birthday through a charity event themed around her age.

Many individuals who follow the presenter and support her initiatives under the Iyati brand have generously contributed to the marathon, albeit anonymously.

A highlight of the event will be the celebrity water points that will feature more supporting corporate brands and the star-studded line-up of Star FM female presenters serving refreshments to the runners.

The marathon route is Harare to Nyabira, ending at Penrose suburb, the new Leengate development.

Iyati is on air every Sunday between 12pm and 3pm on Star FM with the show “Sunday Settings”, which features the highly popular segment “Fly On The Wall”.

The programme is about getting up-close and personal with big personalities.
