Marere out of CHAN

Marere — one of the best players on the domestic scene — has failed to recover from an ankle injury and will miss the trip to Sudan.

It has been a testing off-season for Marere who wal-ked away from Dynamos, in a move pregnant with a host of sub-plots, and signed a three-year deal with Division One side Highfield United.

But his hopes for a three-week break away from Zimbabwe, playing for his country at the CHAN finals, have been ended by an injury, which has haunted him since the first day the team went into camp.

Marere, who had a superb season with the Glamour Boys last year, had been expected to play an influential role among the forwards for the Warriors in Sudan.
The home-based Warriors are unbeaten in the competition, in a period spanning over three years, and Marare had been expected to provide the power and goals for the team in Sudan.

The CHAN tournament will be staged at four venues, Khartoum, Hila, Merreikh and Wad Medani.
