TRIPPLE B forward, Aleck Marime, says he is not losing sleep at the prospects of facing the Glamour Boys in the Mbada Diamonds Cup first round match at Gibbo on Sunday.Things are not looking well for Tripple B as they are in danger of relegation but are praying to land the windfall from the Mbada Diamonds Cup to ease their financial burden.
And Marime, who once played for Dynamos, is expected to lead his troops.
“It will be quite difficult to play a big team like Dynamos but we should be able to manage the situation well.
“Yes it’s a big team with a big name but football is played by 11 people from each side.
“One thing that I assure Dynamos is that it’s going to be like a war. I think we should win this game at all costs,” he said.
Marime is among the contenders for the PSL’s Golden Boot as he sits on eight goals, tied with Dynamos’ Washington Pakamisa and CAPS United’s Dominic Chungwa.
Harare City’s Osborne Mukuradare and Buffaloes’ Jacob Muzokomba have scored nine goals each while former Chicken Inn striker Tendai Ndoro still leads the scoring chart with 12 goals.
“Dynamos could have a name but we will approach them like any other team. We started the season very badly as a new team and faced seasoned campaigners like Highlanders, Dynamos and FC Platinum but now we have improved although it’s still difficult.
“We parted ways nicely with Dynamos but when I face them, I have to show them what I can do,” said Marime.
The Dynamos/Triple B clash is one of the five matches lined up on Sunday as PSL chief executive Kenny Ndebele revealed that three matches will be staged on Saturday.
Ndebele said they have once again put the Castle Lager Premiership fixtures on ice this week after the games were also postponed to make way for the BancABC Sup8r final at Mandava.
“This weekend, we will have the Mbada Diamond Cup first round matches on Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully we should be having a double header at Barbourfields on Sunday,” said Ndebele.
Ndebele hinted that newly crowned BancABC Sup8r champions Shabanie Mine could be slapped with a fine of US$ 8 000 after their delirious fans invaded the pitch following their victory over neighbours FC Platinum at Mandava on Saturday.
“We are still worried with the issue of pitch invasions as this place the lives of the match officials and players at risk.
“The rules of the competition are clear and a team could attract a fine of US$8 000 for the offence.
“But generally were happy with the way things went in the tournament which proved to be very competitive.”
