RENOWNED medical practitioner and philanthropist, Dr Johannes Marisa, has promised to continue helping media personnel and artists in need of medical attention.
He echoed the sentiments during the H-Metro end-of-year Christmas party held last Friday in Harare.
“It is disheartening that some of you struggle when you get ill.
“No reporter or artist should suffer with health issues while I am still alive.
“I promise to help with what I can and that is what we call corporate social responsibility,” said Dr Marisa.
He urged journalists to maintain objectivity in their reporting.
He said whenever reporters come across people in the community, in need of medical attention which they cannot afford, they should alert him.
The philanthropist also advised the community to practice good health habits and go for cancer screening.
“Cancer can be treated if detected early hence it is my plea to society to go for screening early.
“Women don’t ignore lumps on your breasts. As soon as you discover one, go to the clinic and get checked.
“Hence, as the media, you have a bigger role in educating people on good health practices and denouncing bad ones,” he said.
Dr Marisa challenged every publication to include health care tips from different medical experts.
