Marketers to converge for Winter School

This year’s Winter School is going to be hosted at Montclair Resort and Casino, which is nestled in the misty mountains of Nyanga.

Targeted mainly at senior marketers in Zimbabwe, the programme will run from June 12-14.
It is through this Winter School that marketers are then accorded the prestigious MAZ Marketing Practitioner status at a graduation ceremony to be held in July.

The Winter School supports the much-needed flow of continuous career development of new generation marketing and business ideas.

“This inaugural major training event will have two classes running.
“MAZ has invested in highly qualified facilitators from the local and international fraternity, so that marketers realise maximum benefits from their classes. The first class will consist of marketers coming to the Winter School for the first time.

“These marketers will go through an intense and meticulous programme which will focus on topics which are meant to rejuvenate marketers on key marketing basics that will make one a marketer with a difference.

“Those in class one will undoubtedly be exposed to expertise through Mr Godfrey Dube, a passionate marketer with over 25 years experience in sales and marketing, who is also the managing director of GJD Marketing and Business consulting service. He will speak on the topic, “Marketing Metrics and     Innovation”.

“To further stimulate the intellectual in marketers, the director of the Institute of Marketing Management and president of the African Marketing Confederation Ms Helen McIntee will speak on Strategic Marketing Planning.

“Ian Rheeder, who is a chartered marketer, trainer and author with a wealth of expertise will take the first class through the topic “Dynamics of Promotional Strategy”. Ms Ruth Ncube, the president of MAZ and also the managing director of First Mutual Life, will make a presentation on ‘The Astute Marketer: How to gain relevance and Influence in an organisation’,” a MAZ spokeperson said.

The second class will consist of marketers who attended the first phase of the Winter School in 2012 and 2011.

An interesting topic that will be covered in the Class Two is “Strategy – Client and Agency Relationship, An overview of the advertising industry in  Zimbabwe”.

This will be spearheaded by advertising guru and CEO of Jericho Advertising Mr Denford Magora.
Mr Isaiah Nyangari, the chief marketing officer of Zimbabwe’s largest provider of telecommunications services, Econet Wireless will speak on the topic, “Building a Social Media Campaign”.

This is pertinent as more and more organisations are now looking into investing in well-researched social media strategies.

These are industry experts with a wealth of experience who will touch base into the practical side of being relevant marketers.

A seasoned marketer, Dr Ruturi will tackle the topic, “Understanding Financial Implication of Marketing Strategies”.

Mr Ian Rheeder and Ms Ncube will speak on “Measuring Return on Investment on Marketing Strategies” and “How to Gain Relevance and Influence in an Organisation”, respectively.

The Winter School, like several MAZ events, is there to further marketing professionalism and will also create lasting networks for marketers.

For the new group of participants, one of the benefits of attending includes being automatically enlisted in the MAZ individual database.

This will be a stepping stone for their careers as well as guarantee recognition as astute marketers.
“MAZ has created these networking platforms to allow consistent links between marketers to continue.

MAZ realised that the marketing profession needed to be given the recognition it deserves. Through training programmes such as these, the profession will be boosted as it will equip marketers with skills that make them relevant and result oriented.”
