A HARARE woman, Nyarai Chioko, found herself in the dock on Tuesday after two marketplace rivals, Bigboy Mangwiro and Mrs Filis, sought a peace order against her for alleged insults and threats.
Mrs Filis accused Nyarai of insulting her over a market table that Filis uses to sell her goods.
“She wants to take my place, claiming that it’s hers and she also insults me, saying that I caused the death of my child who died in 2020,” Filis stated.
Bigboy echoed similar grievances, alleging that Nyarai insults him and falsely accuses him of actions he did not commit, leading to his arrests.
“She has a habit of going to the police station and falsely accusing me, which results in my arrest,” he said.
In her defence, Nyarai denied all allegations, insisting that she does not interact with either of the complainants.
“I do not talk to any of them. Last week, I applied for an order against them, which was granted, and that is why they are lying and doing this to me for revenge,” she said.
After hearing both sides, the presiding magistrate granted the peace order in favour of both applicants, aiming to protect them from further insults and threats from Nyarai.
