Holders of offer letters for Elmswood Housing project under Marondera Municipality will soon be allocated their residential stands, the local authority has said.
This was communicated to holders of offer letters during a meeting with Mayor Chengetai Murova and Town Clerk Mr Rinashe Nyamuzihwa at Rudhaka Stadium recently.In a statement, Marondera Municipality spokesperson, Mr Kudakwashe Tapfumaneyi said council will adopt a phased approach in allocating the stands.
Mr Tapfumaneyi said a total of 2 929 out of 3 187 stands were allocated to beneficiaries under the Elmswood Housing project.”Council is following due process in delivering these stands to avoid dysfunctional settlement, as per the dictates of Government’s National Human Settlement Policy,” he said.
“Council has since taken effective occupation of the Elmswood land (with Government approval) and this has allowed it to start clearing roads and conclude the pegging and setting of stands beacons.
“The groundwork has allowed council to reach the stage of stand allocations and is scheduled to allocate stands beneficiaries in a phased manner in the coming days.”He said beneficiaries are expected to pay 30 percent of the total price as an initial payment, with the balance being paid over some time.
Mr Tapfumaneyi dismissed information circulating on various social media platforms pertaining to the prices of the residential stands.
He said holders of offer letters will be advised of the pricing model for the high, medium and low-density residential stands.
