Marondera Municipality has rehabilitated key roads in the town at a cost of more than US$294 000 under the Government’s Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme 2 (ERRP2)
The project was implemented together with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development.
The local authority also funded the rehabilitation of four roads using internal resources.

This was revealed by Minister of Local Government and Public Works Daniel Garwe during the commissioning of equipment procured by the local authority through Private-Public Partnership recently.
“Under the roads programme I was advised council managed to tar 10 roads courtesy of the Zinara ERRP2 funding the project was funded to the tune of US$294 144,18 and the following roads were tarred Rusununguko Avenue, Manyame Crescent, Mwendamberi Way, Field Way, Rukodzi Street, Dimba Avenue, Mutiti Crescent, Winsor Avenue, Mutufu Street and Morningside Crescent,” he said.
“Council also funded four roads through estate funds namely Chitepo Extension Road, Ruzawi West Road and Chitepo Extension Main Road. The total costs of the road works were US$39 249,27.”
The Government launched the ERRP2 to rehabilitate roads in cities and towns after realising that local authorities were failing to maintain roads.
