The construction of dams and drilling of boreholes has brought relief to the people of Buhera who were previously affected by water challenges, ZANU PF Women’s League Secretary General, Cde Monica Mutsvangwa, has said.
Addressing a Women’s League rally at Masasa Business Centre in Buhera Central Constituency yesterday, Cde Mutsvangwa said the dams are now enabling communities to venture into agriculture projects, generating incomes for themselves and improving nutrition.
“His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has spearheaded many developments across the country through his mantra of leaving no one and no place behind.
“The construction of dams is one such project that has benefitted all,” she said. Cde Mutsvangwa urged the people to join and vote for the winning ZANU PF team so that more developments can be undertaken.
In Buhera Central, ZANU PF will be represented by Cde Samson Matema on August 23.
“President ED Mnangagwa has been spearheading various developments across the country including the construction of Marovanyati Dam, which has made possible irrigation schemes within the Buhera area.
“The irrigation schemes have allowed the people to start farming projects that they previously couldn’t do because of water shortages.
“We want the party to win the 2023 harmonised elections because of the developments that we have seen. Our President, party and candidates will win if we unite and vote in our numbers,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.
She also urged the women to remain united and vote for a transparent and accountable political party.
“Shun protest voting as it has proven over the years that it does not benefit anyone but the opposition, which in turn, abuses power and funds.
“Use your power as women to continue mobilising registered voters to vote for the revolutionary party so that our victory remains certain,” she said.
Cde Mutsvangwa urged Cde Matema to unite the people and lead them towards victory.
Other party leaders were challenged to conduct door-to-door voter mobilisation campaigns.
In an interview on the side-lines of the rally, Cde Matema said plans were underway to install solar energy to enable irrigation.
“This will help reduce wastage of water while increasing crop yields. We will introduce solar powered water pumping for irrigation and other uses such as providing drinking water for livestock,” he said.
He declared that Buhera Central will deliver a resounding victory for the party and President Mnangagwa.
“People in this constituency love the revolutionary party as evidenced by how it was voted for in previous elections.
“The party’s structures are up-to-date and we promise you that the President will get the most votes in this constituency,” he said.
