A COUPLE’S marriage has collapsed after a wife failed to repay US$350 she owed her husband.
Sibongile Zongora was kicked out of her matrimonial home by her husband, Farai Tangwira, sometime in February this year.
She claimed she had borrowed US$470 from Farai and promised to repay him back.
Sibongile only managed to repay US$120.
Farai demanded the balance which she failed to pay.
She claims he kicked her out of their home and she decided to drag him to court yesterday where she was granted a protection order by magistrate Meenal Narotam.
“Sometime in January, I borrowed US$470 from my husband and I failed to give him back on time, I only managed to repay him US$120.
“He kicked me out of our home and has moved in with his new girlfriend.
“I was forced to sleep outside with our two-year-old child on a rainy day because he refused to let us back into the house without the full payment.
“When I informed his relatives about the situation it escalated into a fight,” Sibongile told the court.
She added
“I still love him and despite him throwing me out of my property, I want the court to help me by protecting me against him before I move back into the house,” said Sibongile.
Farai said he has moved on.
“I gave her a divorce token but she has refused to accept it or leave my house.
“She has her own stand where she can build a house, yet she still wants to stay with me
“I cannot live under the same roof with someone who does not respect me.
“She is the one who is violent, I don’t want her near my house anymore,” Farai said.
Magistrate Naratom urged the couple to engage third parties in order to resolve their differences.
