THE two seeds that Prophet Walter Magaya planted, Scottland and Simba Bhora, will go blow-for-blow in a Castle Lager Premiership battle at Rufaro on Sunday.
Scottland is owned by businessman and legislator Scott Sakupwanya, who was inspired to start his own team by Magaya, whom he also calls his spiritual father.
Scottland used Magaya’s Heart Stadium when they secured their PSL slot last season in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League. Before Scottland was formed, Sakupwanya was one of the main sponsors of Yadah. Simba Bhora owner Simba ‘Buju’ Ndoro has been telling the world that he was inspired to invest in local football by Magaya.
“I was inspired to invest in football by Prophet Magaya. I watched his moves from a distance, taking notes, and Simba Bhora hasn’t reached its best level yet,” said Ndoro.
“He inspired me in many different ways.
The love he has for football is difficult to match for someone with other commitments.
“I was also happy when he made some donations and visited Wadzanai to appreciate what I’ve been doing for people in Shamva.”
There’s a lot at stake when Scottland and Simba Bhora clash in what will be the biggest week 11 fixture.
They have both amassed 19 points in their first 10 games of the campaign.
Simba Bhora will be out to prove that they can boss Scottland, despite losing seven of their key players to them earlier this season.
Scottland are likely to throw everything to try and deny Simba Bhora from having it their way.
But, which team will Magaya be rooting for?
That is difficult to tell.
What isn’t difficult is that Ndoro and Sakupwanya will go into this match knowing that their mentor is a proud man— regardless of the outcome.
