Marriage is a serious decision that takes two adults to consider before they commit themselves, Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Chris Mushohwe has said. Dr Mushohwe said this at the wedding of Tichakunda Matimba and Tafadzwa Chikoore in Harare yesterday. Said Minister Mushohwe: “These are two young professionals who knew each other. I want to say to the young couple that marriage is a serious decision. It should not be influenced by materialistic persuasions.“It requires serious consideration and commitment. When youngsters meet, everything seems to be rosy but it is different and certainly it could be different from today. I want to say that there is no marriage which is very perfect, there is no marriage that does not have ups and downs but what is important is that if it is founded on Christ, that marriage will subsist until death.
“It’s not an easy decision, but I would want to think that the way I know our daughter Tafadzwa that she is a very careful girl yes, she can make a mistake yes but I would also want to think that from the short period that I have known the boy, he is a decent young man who comes from a decent family and background and we would want them to be an example to other young couples.”
Tichakunda’s father Mr Noah Matimba said: “As Matimba family we are happy that our son has done us proud. We have been looking forward to this event for a long time.
“This event gives a good base for our children’s future.”
Tafadzwa’s mother, Mrs Marian Chikoore said: “We want to thank God for this occasion. Tafadzwa is an upright young girl who has always been committed to her school work. I want to encourage our youngsters to emulate this and stop drug abuse and prostitution.
The wedding was also attended by Labour and Social Welfare Minister Prisca Mupfumira.
