IT has long been coming, and finally changes are expected to take place at Harare giants Dynamos where a new executive committee is expected to be unveiled by tomorrow following the sacking of the management led by Moses Maunganidze.

The ailing giants, who needed the last day of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League action to survive relegation, are now set for a leadership renewal after club supremo and board chairman Bernard Marriot Lusengo announced the dissolution of the Dynamos executive committee yesterday.

After weeks of speculation, Marriot wielded the axe on Christmas Eve on Harare business executive Maunganidze and his crew, which included vice chairman Clemence Chimbari, treasurer Justice Mubayi, David Chikomo, who was the committee member responsible for marketing and media and the longest serving member of the management committee Webster Marechera (secretary-general).

Zimpapers Sports Hub is reliably informed a new leadership, most likely to be fronted by former executive vice chairman Vincent Chawonza, will be installed on Boxing Day.

Marriot, however, could not hint on the new man to lead the side.

But he said in a statement that the club management led by Maunganidze, which came into office in 2017 and then led by Isaiah Mupfurutsa, has been dismissed due to their “failure to run the club appropriately.”

Despite Dynamos winning a record third successive Chibuku Super Cup, it could not stop Marriot from wielding the axe on the executive, amid indications that he blamed them for the slump, which the club endured for much of 2025.

Maunganidze has been in charge since November 2022 when he replaced Mupfurutsa, who was also sacked before he resurfaced at Simba Bhora and is now the PSL chairman.

“It’s with a heavy heart that I, Bernard Marriott Lusengo, board chairman of Dynamos FC, announce the immediate dissolution of the club’s entire-executive leadership due to failure to run the club appropriately,” he said in a brief statement.

He also indicated that the decision had been informed by concerns from the Dynamos stakeholders, “who apparently had expressed concern over the shortcomings in the team’s leadership’’.

The new executive committee will be mandated to bring back the gloss to the Glamour Boys, who pride themselves as the country’s most successful club with 21 league titles and a CAF Champions League silver medal.

But of late their supporters and sponsors were not happy with the decline.

“Our supporters and stakeholders remain our top priority,” Marriot said.

“You are the true custodians of this great club, and your concerns have been heard. This decision is intended to restore sanity, stability, and a winning mentality at Dynamos FC.

“The board is fully committed to working tirelessly to return the club to its rightful place of glory. We thank you for your continued support during this period of transition,” added Marriot.

While the management were getting the boot, it emerged there was some Christmas cheer for the players who received their salaries yesterday from principal sponsors – Sakunda Holdings – to cheer their spirits ahead of the festive holidays.

DeMbare find themselves behind some of their rivals in the league, who have already started laying down markers for what promises to be a tightly contested 2026 season.

Sources close to the goings on, however, said the incoming executive committee have already been working behind the scenes to identify a new coach to take over the position left vacant by Kelvin Kaindu’s departure.

They are also understood to be on the hunt for players to replenish their arsenal given the thin squad of mainly rookies which fought hard for PSL survival. Among their targets for the head coach’s job are former employees Genesis Mangombe and Tonderai Ndiraya, who have done well with other clubs.

Dynamos lost the battle to retain Kaindu, who had worked wonders to ensure the team avoided the chop after a horrendous season under Lloyd Chigowe and Saul Chaminuka.

Kaindu also helped the Glamour Boys retain the Chibuku Super Cup for a historic third consecutive season, enabling them to keep the silverware for good as a souvenir, according to the tournament rules.

The Zambian was lured by newly-promoted Hardrock of Kwekwe.

Dynamos were also on the verge of losing a sizeable number of players, with reliable goalkeeper Prince Tafiremutsa, midfielder Vusa Ngwenya linked with Scottland while captain Emmanuel Jalai is a wanted man in the league.

DeMbare’s new executive is expected to convince key players to stay and, also, beef up with quality players to challenge for honours. It was not immediately clear yesterday what other terms had been laid for the new management with Marriot expected to spell out some of his expectations in the appointment letters tomorrow.
