THE State yesterday furnished former model Marry Mubaiwa with a trial date in the matter in which she is facing attempted murder charges.

Mubaiwa appeared before regional magistrate, Stanford Mambanje, who remanded her to July 29 for trial commencement.

The State was ordered to serve the defence with State papers, on or before July 14, to give them adequate time to prepare for trial.

The State attempted to postpone Mubaiwa’s money laundering charge to August, an application which was opposed by her lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa. On behalf of the State, Lancelot Mutsokoti told the court he intended to apply his mind before making a response.

“I need to apply my mind to what my sister has said and I will be able to be ready to respond to the application by close of business tomorrow (today),” said Mutsokoti.

Mtetwa reminded the court that the State was placed on notice last month and ought to have been ready to file a response because the application was anticipated.

Magistrate Mambanje remanded the matter to today for ruling.
