HAMILTON Masakadza, the Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) director of cricket, has been told to urgently come up with a turnaround strategy for the Zimbabwe senior men’s national cricket team following a string of poor results.
These were some of the resolutions of a ZC board meeting held on Thursday.
The Chevrons hosted Bangladesh at Harare Sports Club and won only one match during the Asian’s tour. Zimbabwe lost the one-off Test, the three ODI series, 3-0 and the lost the T20 International series 2-1.
In a statement, ZC said the former Zimbabwe captain and top order batsman must look at selection, technical issues and performance of senior players ahead of the team’s tour of Scotland and Ireland next month.
“On 29 July 2021, the ZC board of directors held a virtual meeting during which the following resolutions were passed: The board asked the ZC director of cricket to urgently come up with a turnaround strategy for the Zimbabwe senior men’s national cricket team following a string of poor results. The strategy, which is expected to be in place before the team’s tour to Ireland and Scotland, should focus on the following areas: selection, technical issues and performance of senior players,” read the ZC statement.
It said the board received and approved ZC’s audited financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2020, which will now be presented at the ZC annual general meeting.
The board also received and approved a report on the ZC job evaluation and grading exercise carried out by independent human resources management consulting company. @bonganinkunzi
