SOCIAL commentator and Zora music artiste, Clayton Masekesa is now polishing up his first album that is expected to be officially released during the festive season.

In a recent interview, Masekesa said the new album, “Delicious”, will feature six songs that has a mixture of Zora, sungura, Zim-dancehall and house/amapiano music.

“We are almost ready as we are polishing up the album. I want this album to match high standards and appeal to a lot of people. We have a song for each genre like Zora, sungura, Zim-dancehall and amapiano.

“We want to show the world that we are a versatile group and can play anything. It will be up to the fans to judge because they are the ones who listen to the music,” he said.

Asked on why he named the album “Delicious”, Masekesa said he believes the songs on the album will be delicious.

“I believe and have high hopes that the songs on this album will be delicious,” he said while declining to give more information on the album.

Post Entertainment has, however, listened to some leaked tracks and the songs are full of potential.

A promising song, “Kuzipa Kwerudo” and popularly known as Usatamba naMasekesa, is already receiving favourable reviews in entertainment circles as it is receiving considerable airplay at most drinking holes.

Another song to watch out for is “Zvichandibatsirei”, originally done by veteran sungura musician, Hosiah Chipanga. Masekesa remixed it into a Zim-dancehall version.

Masekesa, who leads The Eastern Stars Band last year released a single, ‘Simba Rekurarama’ and it announced his arrival on the entertainment scene.

“The single, ‘Simba Rekurarama’ did well. In fact, it was the stepping stone. It has opened a way for me to step on. I hope that the new album will be able to surpass the bar raised by this single,” said Masekesa.

He added: “The massive support I receive from fans has kept me going. I want to thank each and everyone who has been supporting me. I am overwhelmed by their support.

“It is so overwhelming to hear some household DJs and watering holes playing my music. It is quite encouraging to see and hear people playing your music.”

He said he will be launching the new album in Mutare and Mozambique during his trademark Christmas tour of the neighbouring country.
