Masenda set for Togo

Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa’s 30th anniversary celebrations to be held on June 28.
Masenda will be representing ZOC and will join 52 other National Olympic Committees presidents for the celebrations.

The Anoca executive board and the technical director Robert Mutsauki, who is a former ZOC chief executive, will also attend the celebrations.
Anoca will be reflecting on the success they have had for the past 30 years and will also look into the future for the organisation.

ZOC chief executive, Stanley Mutoya, said the celebrations meant a lot for Zimbabwe as the country has worked with Anoca at a high level for quite some time now.
“It is just a reflection on the work Anoca has achieved for the past 30 years. It is the commemoration of the life of Anoca.
“For Zimbabwe, first of all it means we are part of the family.

“Secondly, for us it is more significant because we have been directly involved and contributed to Anoca.
“We are part of the success Anoca has had over the past years as we have been involved at a higher level,” said Mutoya.

Mutoya said that Zimbabwe has every reason to celebrate with the rest of the Anoca affiliates because they have contributed in the development of sport in Africa.
“We are recognised by the IOC as an NOC with the ability to mentor other countries from Africa.

“We have had interns from Liberia, Malawi, Somalia, Sierra Leone, Swaziland and South Africa to name but just a few.
“We are going to have another intern from Sierra Leone later this year. So for us it is worth celebrating because we have contributed in the development of sport in Africa.

“We have in the past been assigned by the IOC to run certain programmes through Anoca.
“And we have had some of our members such as David Mutambara, Edward Siwela and myself assigned to work with Anoca,” added Mutoya.
