Masendeke in cells

The three brothers are Ernest, Edward and Errison Masendeke and police did not give their ages.

Police yesterday confirmed Errison Masendeke’s arrest in connection with the Kwekwe murder. Police said they arrested him in Rimuka suburb, Kadoma on Tuesday where he had gone into hiding. The other two are still on the run.

The trio’s brother, Edgar Edmund Masendeke was executed in 2004 after committing various crimes, including murder and escaping from Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison. Acting Midlands provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko yesterday confirmed the incident.

“We are investigating a case of murder which occurred at Mbizo 4 business centre in Kwekwe on March 29, following a misunderstanding at a beer drink at about 3am in which a man died on the spot after being assaulted by the three suspects,” he said.

He said on the day, the man who has since been identified was drinking beer in the same nightclub with the three. Police were by yesterday still withholding his name.
The man was later accused by Ernest of stepping on his foot resulting in a misunderstanding between the two.
