CANDIDATES vying for seats in Mashonaland Central’s 18 constituencies have given yesterday’s harmonised elections a thumbs up describing them as peaceful, free and fair. Zanu-pf provincial chairman and Mazowe West aspiring legislator, Cde Kazembe Kazembe, said: “Victory is guaranteed for our President, myself and the councillor. I think the results will be quite shocking to the opposition. We did our mobilisation very well.
“There were fears of bhora musango even here in Mazowe West because of the people who lost in the primary elections, but then you ask yourself, is it about you or the party? Why do you try to encourage people to vote for the opposition if you are true cadre of the party?”
zanu-pf aspiring National Assembly candidate for Mt Darwin South Cde Steven Kabozo, hailed the elections as free and fair.
He said the party would win resoundingly.
“Voting went on very well. No incidents of violence were reported. It is free and fair as promised by President Mnangagwa. zanu-pf victory is certain here,” said Cde Kabozo.
People’s Rainbow Coalition candidate for Mt Darwin West, Mr Julius Musevenzi, said the election process was fair.
Outgoing zanu-pf legislator for Mazowe North, Advocate Martin Dinha, said he was happy that the electorate had heeded President Mnangagwa’s calls for peace before, during and after the elections.
A sadc election observer, Bishop Rubin Phillip from South Africa, said he had visited some polling stations in Bindura and observed that everything was going on very well.
“I have observed that everything is being run efficiently and people who don’t understand the voting system are having everything explained to them. The other thing which is very important is that everything is being peaceful, the entire process and that is a very good thing,” said Bishop Phillip.
