Construction of a regional court is planned for Mushumbi Business Centre in Mbire District while Zanu PF candidate Cde David Butau is lobbying for an e-passport centre, as the district expands to match developments happening in Kanyemba.
People in Mbire travel to Guruve or Bindura for justice delivery, a long and cumbersome journey especially for victims of sexual assault. The district has three ports of entry, Kanyemba, Chikafa and Chidodo border posts.
The Second Republic envisages a town in Kanyemba and massive infrastructure developments is now underway including the construction of the Mahuwe-Kanyemba Road, completion of a landing bay and construction of power lines to light up the area.
Cde Butau and Zanu PF launched an election campaign in Mahuhwe recently where he thanked President Mnangagwa for massive development happening in the district. The launch saw the outgoing MP, Cde Douglas Karoro, joining hands with Cde Butau to drum up support for the party.
They are targeting 35 000 votes for President Mnangagwa and the party in the constituency.
“We need an e-passport centre at Mushumbi Business Centre. In line with President Mnangagwa’s vision, Kanyemba will soon become a busy border post linking Mozambique and Zambia,” he said.
“Also, we have other border posts, Chidodo and Chikafa, used by our people to trade with Mozambique. Mbire is a passage to Zambia and Mozambique and we thank President Mnangagwa for his wisdom in constructing roads and dams here.
“We have cultivated good relations with China and Turkey and I will help cross-border women to benefit from these bilateral relations.”
Zanu PF provincial chairperson Cde Kazembe Kazembe promised to take up the issue of an e-passport centre at Mushumbi. He said sleeping at the passport office and travelling long distances to access vital documents was now a thing of the past.
“Currently, no one is spending more than 30 minutes at a passport office. Mbire district is going to have a passport office. The Mahuhwe-Kanyemba Road will soon economically empower the people of Mbire,” he said.
Mr Doubt Chigwafu said President Mnangagwa is capable of turning Mbire into a land of milk and honey.
“We were a forgotten people with no road or bus but look at Mbire now, the district is fast growing after the Second Republic took over,” he said.
“This is not the first time that Cde Butau is leading this district and we have confidence in him that he will carry on all the developmental projects. He promised to build 38 classroom blocks and we believe him because our children are still using books that he gave us years ago.”
Cde Karoro said they are working together for a resounding win for President Mnangagwa and the party.
“In Zanu PF, we are one people,” he said.
