Outgoing Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Makonde, Cde Kindness Paradza, has shown political maturity by supporting the party’s new candidate for the constituency, Cde Simbarashe Ziyambi, who defeated him in the primaries.
Cde Paradza, the Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, has been attending rallies organised by Cde Ziyambi, who represents the ruling party in the August, 23 harmonised elections. Speaking during rallies held at Kenzamba and Obva, Cde Paradza thanked the electorate for voting for him during the past three terms.
“I want to thank you, you supported me for the past three terms and now we are rallying behind Cde Ziyambi who won the primaries. This time, we want to vote for President Mnangagwa resoundingly,” he said.
Cde Paradza, who is a central committee member, called for unity among the party members, urging them to bury political differences, if any.
Cde Ziyambi said he was ready to further developmental projects that were started by Cde Paradza.
“As Makonde, we are going to vote for President Mnangagwa resoundingly so that we will be able to carry on with developmental projects that are still lagging behind,” he said.
“The President is pro-developmental, hence we should vote for him in huge numbers.”
Cde Ziyambi has been Makonde Rural District Council chairperson since 2018.
Meanwhile, in Chegutu West, outgoing Zanu PF MP, Cde Dexter Nduna, last week smoked the peace pipe, rallying behind the party’s candidate, Cde Farai Chigavazira, in all his campaign rallies.
The trend has also been the same across the province with losing Zvimba South and Zvimba West legislators, Cde Philip Chiyangwa and Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi, heavily supporting the new party candidates.
